Trivia Question❓

Which neurotransmitter is primarily involved in the transmission of pain signals in cases of neuropathy?

Answer at the bottom of the newsletter

Exercise has numerous benefits for managing and treating peripheral neuropathy.

It improves blood flow and circulation to nerve cells, enhances nerve function by generating new mitochondria in cells, activates adult stem cells that repair cellular damage, and promotes overall body health.

Exercise is a secret weapon to overcome the limitations imposed by peripheral neuropathy.

While stress is not usually a direct cause of peripheral neuropathy, it can exacerbate existing nerve damage and contribute to its development.

Chronic stress can lead to inflammation, decreased blood flow, and increased oxidative stress, all of which can harm nerves and directly cause neuroapthy.

Additionally, stress can worsen symptoms of neuropathy by increasing pain sensitivity and altering the way the body perceives pain.

Managing stress through relaxation techniques, exercise, and other lifestyle changes may help reduce the severity of neuropathy symptoms.

The efficacy and safety of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) for the treatment of painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy: A systematic review and meta-analysis: This study found that TENS is an effective and safe treatment for painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy. TENS was shown to reduce pain intensity by a moderate to large amount, and it was well-tolerated by most patients.

The role of α-lipoic acid in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial: This study found that α-lipoic acid is an effective treatment for diabetic peripheral neuropathy. α-lipoic acid was shown to improve nerve conduction velocity and reduce symptoms of neuropathy, such as pain, numbness, and tingling.

The use of cannabidiol (CBD) for the treatment of peripheral neuropathy: A systematic review of preclinical and clinical studies:This study found that CBD is a promising treatment for peripheral neuropathy. CBD has been shown to reduce pain, inflammation, and nerve damage in preclinical studies. Clinical studies have also shown that CBD is safe and well-tolerated by patients with peripheral neuropathy.
