Heel pain is usually caused by the condition plantar fasciitis. During pregnancy however, it's also common for increased weight and edema to cause heel pain.  Some treatment conditions we offer will be the same as for plantar fasciitis, but some will be more short term to help resolve the pain. Sometimes heel pain is due to pregnancy symptoms, other times heel pain just happens to develop during pregnancy.  Finding the source of heel pain will help determine needed treatment.

There are many conservative options that are safe during pregnancy, such as shoe inserts, compression socks and stretches.  If discomfort persists beyond pregnancy, more aggressive treatment may resolve the issue.
